USPTO - Prometheus IP

The ongoing global pandemic and its resultant repercussions on economy is unprecedented. Strong economies have strong Intellectual Property (IP) environment. Thus, when the economy suffers, so do its IP environment. The economic implication is across all levels and all sectors of businesses. Hence it goes without saying that innovation is suffering.

On February 5,2020 the Library of Congress, Washington DC organized an event “Copyright in the age of Artificial Intelligence”, co-sponsored by the U.S. Copyright office and The World Intellectual Property Organization. The event started with a keynote addressed on the global perspectives of Copyright and AI by the Director General of WIPO, Francis Gurry.

Off late there has been a lot of attention on the Intellectual property Policy of China. In relation this aseries of round table discussions (AS IN THE TITLE)was held at the USPTO headquarters on the 20th of November, 2019. The participants were from law schools, American Intellectual property law Association, the USPTO, Law firms, Business Schools and Business council amongst others

Accelerated examination refers to the provision to fast-track patent applications to obtain patents for their inventions in different patent jurisdictions. The procedure to get a patent is tedious involving a great deal of intellectual and budgetary endeavors. Most often, Applicants look forward to avenues that can reduce this time in order to enjoy their IP rights. Accelerated examination in different geographical jurisdictions have different criteria and administrative requirements that need to be satisfied for a successful outcome.

Prometheus made its presence felt at the conference on “Artificial Intelligence- Intellectual property policy considerations” organised by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) at its headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. The conference was attended by our US Operations Head Ms Soujanya Sikha.

The meeting was conducted by TC 2600, the technology Center for providing examination for patent applications including Communications.

United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a key patent to Mesoblast Limited (ASX:MSB) (USOTC:MBLTY) casing employment of the Company's proprietary adult Mesenchymal Precursor Cells (MPCs) for the formation and repair of blood vessels in ischemic tissues.
